Tattoo You
Buy some cute nail tattoos at your local drugstore or cosmetics shop. These are very affordable and look great for a day at the mall or a fancy night out.
Zebra Stripes
Paint your nails white. Do a second and even a third coat to get the white really opaque. Let nails dry well (for best results, dry overnight). Cut masking tape into thin strips and place it on your nails in even stripes. (Cut perfect strips for a stripey look, or more wiggly strips for a true zebra style). Then paint over the tape and the rest of your nail with black nail polish. As soon as you're finished painting, peel off the tape - carefully! - and give your nails lots of time to dry before doing anything else. You'll have fabulous zebra stripes!
Use this same masking-tape technique to do other patterns too. A few ideas: red, white and blue stripes, or a purple and yellow leopard design. You could even do chic polkadots!
La French Manicure
Give yourself a classic French manicure and you'll go through winter in high style. Use tip guides (available at drugstores). Paint your entire nail shell-pink. Let nails dry completely, then apply tip guides. Paint tip of nail white, then finish with a clear top coat.
For a sexy twist on this classic style, paint your nails silver or bronze or glittering red intead of pink, and finish with white tips. Or do something even more unexpected, like pink and purple instead of pink and white. Or add sparkles on the tip of nail... very festive!
